And while we play, we are opening the game up to the kids in this city who have never been handed a club.
The Reason We're at Ted Rhodes
Ted Rhodes was a Nashville-born golfer who was good enough to play anywhere and, for most of his career, was not allowed to. He broke barriers that should never have existed, and he spent a lifetime getting himself and others onto courses that had locked the gate.
We play out of the course that bears his name. It would be a strange thing to do that every week and not carry the point forward.
Golf is still one of the most closed-off games in America. Not by rule anymore, but by price. Clubs, lessons, green fees, a ride to the course. For a lot of kids in Nashville, any one of those is the end of the conversation.
The Buckeye Golf League exists to open the gate.
How It Works
The League
Wednesday and Friday scrambles at 3 PM at Ted Rhodes. 40 spots. Balanced team draw, so you are not stuck carrying a foursome or riding along with one. Season standings, seasonal majors, and a room full of people who like the game.
The Mission
Free clinics, equipment, and instruction for Nashville youth who cannot otherwise get on a course. Run by league members who volunteer their time.
The Sponsors
The mission runs on sponsorship, not on green fees. Businesses fund the programs. Golfers run them.
Come for the scramble. You will end up handing a seven-iron to a twelve-year-old before the season is out.

Mission Statement
To increase access to the game of golf for underserved youth in Nashville and Middle Tennessee, carrying forward the legacy of the man whose name is on our course.
Programs
Free Junior Clinics
Small-group instruction at Ted Rhodes. No cost, no experience, no clubs required. We will put a set in your hands at the door.
Equipment Grants
Fitted junior sets, bags, and shoes. A hand-me-down driver that is four inches too long is the fastest way to quit the game.
Summer Camps
Range work, on-course play, and the part of golf that isn't about golf.
School & Community Partnerships
We bring the game to the kids instead of waiting for them to find us.
Mentorship
Every junior in the program is paired with an adult who keeps showing up. That is the part that actually changes anything.
Character Through the Game
Golf is the only sport where you call the penalty on yourself. Everything else we teach hangs off that.
Formal enrollment and volunteer forms are coming soon. In the meantime, drop us a note and we will follow up.
Working Toward 501(c)(3) Status
Status: In progressWe are actively pursuing 501(c)(3) nonprofit status so every dollar sponsors contribute is tax-deductible and every program dollar goes directly to Nashville kids. Until that designation is granted, sponsorships support the mission through the league's operating fund and are not yet tax-deductible.

We have volunteers. We have a course. We have a league full of people willing to give up a Saturday morning.
What we do not have, and what sponsors provide, is the money for clubs, coaching, and camp.
When you sponsor the Buckeye Golf League, you are funding access to golf for kids in this city, and you are in front of a room of Nashville golfers twice a week while you do it.
